Tender Petals

IMG_20150308_160444_683-1

Fragrant in the rain are the buds of love

Tender petals open like lips divine

Mountain air, a delicate breath exhales

Lightly, her mist on leaves, and skin reply.

10 minutes from home

In my bones and in the way my blood flows

Deep heat waiting

Calling me in

From the cold

Years, months, days

Dissolve on my lips

10 minutes from home

Words don’t come out

And the radio screams into the night

Love songs of yesterday

Once again pushed away

Into that growing silence

Wanting, waiting, needing

To be explained

Another day.

Low Tides

Punalu`u, cloud reflection in tidal pool

Punalu`u, cloud reflection in tidal pool

Your words slip through my lips,

A gentle push into the unknown

Where I wait in darkness

For water to move,

In dampness,

In raindrops,

In ocean tides

Where shells of beauty

Are stranded on clinging rocks,

Vulnerable,

Open,

Still wet

For gathering,

By finger tips,

Palms,

And tongues,

Searching for meaning.

Day 9

waiting for day

under darkness

the earth moving

like the first night

longing hours dissolve

trembling

waiting

for day.
