Ode To An Old Wild Rose

#30

Your petals are wilting,

Still soft with sun

And rain that graced you

In soft mists and torrent showers

In your youth,

Survived,

Though the heat was strong

your fragrance held its own

Sweet with knowledge,

Heart flushed with beauty,

and wild with impulse,

You blossomed,

Opened,

Despite your thorns,

Despite pain,

Despite sorrow,

Your touch remained gentle,

Delicate resonance,

I inhale you,

Breathing in

All that you are,

All that I am.

A Stone Throw

IMG_20140418_180407_435

Pull Over,

And walk twenty yards

From the highway.

Myth is alive,

Movement rustling in darkness,

Light seeping from clouds,

A slight breeze,

A dancing Lehua blossom

Swaying unseen,

An unbeaten path,

A stone throw

from the known.

We are divorced from what’s real,

Believing in our own superiority,

And have we forgotten our relations?

The stone, the moss, the mist, the mountain,

All waiting for us to return home.
